TV show Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai is set to go off air to make way for Amitabh Bachchan’s quiz show Kaun Baneha Crorepati on August 16. However, the channel has now confirmed that the show will return with its second season soon.
The channel shared a still from the show featuring Randeep Rai as Sameer Maheshwari and Ashi Singh as Naina Agarwal with the caption, “Picture abhi baaki hai… #NostalgiaofYUDKBH #Samaina.”
The channel said in an official statement, “Sony Entertainment Television’s most loved show Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai which took us all back to our 90s giving us the nostalgic feels will be back. Kyuki..Picture abhi baaki hai.”
Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai is a coming-of-age romantic drama, set in the 90s. The viewers of the show reportedly began an online petition requesting the channel to not replace it with KBC.
Release Date and Time
Expressing disappointment on the show going off air, Randeep told IWMBuzz.com in an interview, “There are mixed emotions about what is happening. First of all, I was shocked to hear this. I was not sure of the news, and when I heard it, I could not believe it. Everything was going so well for the show. I have never counted the TRPs. The TRP has gone up and come down over the last few months. Apart from TRP, everything was so smooth. And when I heard of it, I felt that everything good has to come to an end.” Talking about the release time of the show makers have decided to announce the show likely in September 2024, as Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat hai was aired on September 5, 2017, so it will be announced in September of this year.
About The Show
The story takes place in Ahmedabad in 1990 and centres on 16-year-old Naina Agarwal, a student at Pragati Vidya Ka Mandir. She was reared in a traditional joint household by Uncle Anand and Bela after losing her mother at birth. Rakesh Agarwal, Naina’s father and the school librarian, is conventional in his thinking, only encouraging his son Arjun’s ambition while ignoring Naina. A 17-year-old named Sameer Maheshwari is suspended from his boarding school in Nainital and goes back to live with his maternal grandfather, Jaiprakash Maheshwari, in Ahmedabad. After Sameer’s father passed away, Vishaka Somani got married and relocated to Delhi. The two of them have a strained relationship. Sameer enrols as a classmate at Munna’s school, where Naina also attends, to study with his cousin. Naina is instantly smitten with Sameer.
Having been misunderstood by Rakesh and Naina, Sameer resolves to exact revenge. He attempts to court Naina and they pursue a relationship when he places a wager with the seniors that he can get her to say “I love you.” Naina tells Sameer how she feels on the school trip to Mount Abu, but after learning about the wager, she is devastated and chooses to move on. After being persuaded by Munna and Pandit, Sameer apologises to Naina. Naina sobs and says she can’t forgive him. At last, Sameer confesses his love to Naina. As soon as Arjun learns of the wager, he approaches Sameer, who unintentionally shoves him down the steps, shattering his leg.
